Check out how Ismail Darbar mixes guitar as background in the first few sentences, and then switches over to sitar and tabla effortlessly to the rest of the song. The song talks about the lover recalling his love. This is a kind of song which reminds of Sonu Nigam and his pop songs. The next song Woh Chand Jaisi Ladki is probably the best song in the album. There are a lot of back ground vocals on this music, but its beautiful. This is a kind of song which takes it own time to grow on you. The next song Hamesha Tumko Chaha again features a kind of north Indian pahadi style music. It sounds as if the song were made for the front benchers. The song is about…well.alcohol and how lovely it is to have it! Certainly a interesting song, but somehow, I didn’t like the tune so much. The next song on the CD is Chalak Chalak which for me is not amongst the top songs of the album. This is certainly a song which will appeal to only those people who kind of like classical or semi-classical music. The classical part of the song is simply superb! The classical climatic sequence is superb…all kudos to the music director. The songs sounds more like as if a teaching session is going between a master and pupil. Kaahe Chhed Mohe is a out and out classical song, and also composed by a classical vocalist Pandit Birju Maharaj, who also sings the song.

Check out the background music in this song…every instrument is real, and no synthesizer! It is the kind of song which prominently which featured on HDDCS album. Check out the brilliant classical composition of the song, especially between the first antra and the first mukhda…its too good!īairi Piya follows next which is a good melodious love song. The song immediately reminds you of the qawalli based songs which used to come in late 60s. Next comes the publicized song Maar Daala sung by Kavitha k. One has to hear this song to really appreciate it.

Shreya Goshal does full justice to the song. The song describes a girl waiting for her lover to come by. With a flawless voice she takes over you completely. She is going to be the next BIG thing in music industry.

The album begins off with Silsila hain pyar ka sung by the new comer Shreya Goshal. And with the wide variety that Ismail Darbar provides in this album its all the more difficult to review the songs! Nonetheless I have tried to review this album, and hopefully I do justice to it! So here goes. Reviewing a classical based album is always too difficult. Certainly the music of Devdas is not for everyone to hear, and it would be difficult to say how the music will fare. This time around, the music is more classy, more classical, and more of substance. What does he do? Promptly does he asked Ismail Darbar to compose the music, and he carries on from where he left with HDDCS. More so, he has taken even greater risk by defying all conventional forms of music and went ahead with the music he wanted.

The magic recreates again… It almost feels like as if Sanjay Leela Bhansali has taken a great risk by making this movie in modern age.
