I have tested this on a Mac OSX 10.5, 10.6, and 10.7 (for the 10.7, the driver is not available yet). For Two-Sided, select Long-Edge binding or Short-Edge binding. I had previously reinstalled the HP software which hadn't solved the problem but after your suggestion of a printer conflict I went back to basics and started over (as you say in the US!) so thanks for setting me down the right road. But on the Mac I go to Print Booklet-Print Settings-Setup-Printer Choose Layout and the Duplex option is Greyed out. Of the printer and all the duplex options back in MS Word. After mucking about for a while I just uninstalled the lot, restarted the PC, reinstalled the printer and, Bingo! one iteration I uninstalled the non-default version and instantly the default version of the printer ceased to work.
